I’m one of those people who’s always looking for a better way to do things.

Although I’ve always worked with software one way or another, for most of my working life it hasn’t been my main role.

I created payroll systems because I was in charge of payroll, stock forecasting systems because I was responsible for long-lead-time stock, quality control systems because I had to manage testing and sign-off - even rainflow calculation systems because customers needed to know what drainage to buy.

The point is that good systems come from the situation they’re needed in.
